“The Man of God”

No. 1: I Kings 17 : 1 - 7

1: And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.  2: And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, 3: Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.  4: And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.  5: So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. 6: And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook. 7: And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.

The Book Cherith :

                             “to cut down”

1>      No rain - my word

there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word

                             James 5 : 16 - 18             prayer of righteous - “AVAILS”

16: Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. 17: Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.18: And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

                   3>      Brook Cherith

3: Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the     brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

4>      Ravens to feed - need to be fed

I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there

                             I Peter 2 : 2          desire the milk

2: As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may        grow thereby:

                   5>      Elijah went and DID

5: So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD:

                             Deuteronomy 8 : 2 - 3   remember to way - obey

2: And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no. 3: And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

                   7>      brook dried

7: And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.

No. 2 :         I Kings 17 : 9 - 24         widow of Zaraphath

                                                          refinement as a goldsmith

9: Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee. 10: So he arose and went to Zarephath.  And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink. 11: And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.

12: And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die. 13: And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son. 14: For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.

15: And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days. 16: And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah. 17: And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him. 18: And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God?  art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son?

19: And he said unto her, Give me thy son.  And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.  20: And he cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son? 21: And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, I pray thee, let this child's soul come into him again. 22: And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived. 23: And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the house, and delivered him unto his mother: and Elijah said, See, thy son liveth.

24: And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in thy mouth is truth.

13>             tells widow -          GO AND DO

go and do as thou hast said

                             I Corinthians 11 : 1 follow me as I do Christ

1: Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

                   19>             widow’s son sick

19: And he said unto her, Give me thy son.  And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.

24>             MAN OF GOD - WORD TRUTH

Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in thy mouth is truth.

                   18:43>         go again 7 TIMES

43: And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea.  And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing.  And he said,         Go again seven times.

THEN :

                   19:1> JEZEBEL - “kill you”\

1: And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword.

                   4>               request to DIE -

4: But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.

                             Jonah 4 : 3 , 9

3: Therefore now, O LORD, take, I beseech thee, my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live.9: And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd?  And he said, I do well to be angry, even unto death.

                   5-6>            Angel food - 40 days

5: And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat. 6: And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head.  And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.

11-12>         God calls - small voice

11: And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD.  And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: 12: And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

                   Romans 8 : 28 - 31        to them who are called

28: And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29: For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30: Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. 31: What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

13>             what you doin here ???

13: And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave.  And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?

                   Romans 11 : 2 - 4                             SO KILL ME !

2: God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying, 3: Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.

4: But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.

15>             Get up and go                 You got work to do

15: And the LORD said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria:
