On the morning of August 11, 1945, I was present at the old City Hall in Manila, when from the balcony, General Douglas Mac Arthur, with an impromptu speech acknowledged Japan’s acceptance. On August 19, a C-54 plane carrying a Japanese delegation landed in Manila to meet with General Mac Arthur and receive orders for signing of the final peace terms.
I was standing by on the Japanese shore September 2, 1945 while on the Battleship USS Missouri anchored in Tokyo Bay, the formal surrender terms were signed bringing to a close a long and bloody war that started December 7, 1941. The fighting was over. Now all the men that fought for so long were going home. I remember well when my orders came for me to go home. We went by truck through a wooded area to the bay, where the great ship that was to carry us home was docked. There was a delay for several hours before we could board the ship. When the time came, two of my buddies and I had wandered off. We were sitting on a log having a good time talking. We came close to missing our ship.
BELOVED - Christian people are fighting a battle now throughout the world. One day God is going to say, it’s all over, come on home. What a time of rejoicing that will be! Our work is all done and we are going home. Going home to meet all our Christian loved ones that have going on before. What a reunion that will be!
DEAR FRIEND - Are you ready to go home? Are you really saved? Are you a church member that is sitting on a log and missing the boat?
Don’t hide behind church membership. Many good church members are not saved. Has there ever been a time in your life when you realized you were a lost sinner? Did you tell God that you know He sent His only begotten son, Jesus Christ to die on the cross and shed His blood for your sins? Did you ask God to have mercy on you, a sinner, to forgive you for all your sins, to come into your heart and save you, in Jesus name?
If you did this with a sincere heart and accepted Jesus as Savior, then one day I will see you AT HOME in HEAVEN. You are saved.
Or maybe, precious soul, you have never been to church and do not understand what I am saying.
IN God’s Word, the Bible, it is written in the book of Luke - Chapter 13 Verse 5 -"Except you repent you shall perish." Sinner friend, repent simply means to change your mind. It means you have decided to stop you sinful ways and start you life over for Christ. Maybe you say you are not really bad, God says in the book of Romans - Chapter 3 Verse 23 -" All have sinned and come short of the Glory of God." FRIEND - that means you and me. In the book of Romans - Chapter 10 Verse 13 - God’s word says "Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." That means you and me. God says in Romans - Chapter 10 Verse 10 -"For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
If you with a sincere heart, repented
and asked God to forgive your sins and come into your heart and save you
- THEN BELOVED HE DID! You are saved.
